Information Technology is the latest discipline of science and technology gathering momentum to amalgamate the advance technologies toward fulfilling the modern needs of the society. This discipline is an offshoot of computer science, based upon the solid foundation of computer technology integrated with electronic & communication sciences. Its usefulness and strength can be experienced in almost all branches of science, technology, commerce, entertainment and fine art. As a result of this IT along with electronics communication devices has brought all the countries into a global village through Internet and mobile phone where more than hundred million ordinary people are directly connected to each other. This technology is also being widely used in exploring the planetary system and space adventure. The outcome of IT enabled services has been felt and experienced in every segment of the society. |

IT is multi disciplinary science where demand for skilled workers is very high and is growing by leaps and bounds. A study at the global economic situation in 2001 shows that even some turmoil in the economy of some advanced countries, demand of IT experts had not been much affected universally. Again in 2008 in spite downfall in the economy of some developed countries demand IT experts in India have not been much effected except that new projects from these countries have been delayed. Recent estimates in 2008 showed that in order to reach the target of $50 billion in software exports, India needed 2.2 million IT professionals. In fact, the need is such that even if the IT talent pool increases tenfold in the next five years, it will be easily absorbed by the domestic industry itself. At JIET Universe our efforts concentrate on updating computer labs and infrastructure continuously by replacing the obsolete systems with latest state of art systems, peripherals and software technologies. In addition to fulfilling the requirements of university curriculum, this department in association with some national IT-Training companies has been providing industry need-based value added courses to our valued students in phased manner. |

Thus by the time our students complete their degree they are equipped with more practical knowledge & experience in additional industry based courses. For this we have setup online instruction labs equipped with LCD Projectors. In class room too our faculty use LCD projectors frequently with latest teaching aids. From time to time, IT experts from industry are also invited to deliver lectures to our students and faculty on new technologies. The students are permitted to propose and work only for real industrial projects, which should have marketable viability in IT or IT enabled industry. The department has an excellent team of dedicated faculty with matching teaching, research and industry experience in their respective field of specialization. Each Faculty member is not only a teacher but also acts as a motivator, mentor and guide to the students towards fulfillment of their dreams and attainment of their goals.
